The Medical Co-Director of Instituto Bernabeu addresses poor ovarian response at the National Fertility Congress in Italy
Medical Co-Director of Instituto Bernabeu, Dr Ll. Aparicio, and Dr Paolo Cirillo participated in the 2nd National Congress of the Reproductive Medicine Foundation of Italy (PMA) held in Florence on 21st and 22nd March. Dr Ll. Aparicio, an expert in poor ovarian reserve, gave a conference delivered to specialists in assisted reproduction that addressed the ‘Challenges of treating patients with poor ovarian response.’
As an expert in the field, Dr Ll. Aparicio actively participates in international scientific events in order to share developments in his specialist subject and in which Instituto Bernabeu is a leading entity. Personalising treatment is one of the keys to success in women who obtain few oocytes despite having ovarian stimulation. Pharmacogenetics offers a huge step forward by giving each patient the medication and dose to match her genetic profile. Instituto Bernabeu has achieved another goal in this area by performing ovarian stimulation at different stages during the cycle, making it possible to perform two stimulations in a single cycle and increasing the chances of success.
At the Italian fertility congress, Dr Ll. Aparicio highlighted optimising treatment and dealing with patients who are poor responders.
Instituto Bernabeu provides international healthcare and deals with the majority of its international patients in their mother tongue. Over half of all patients are international. Italian patients are given personalised healthcare. From a gynaecological point of view, this includes treatment by gynaecologist Paolo Cirillo, a specialist who speaks their own language.
